Information on Ehime Prefecture


The prefectural capital is Matsuyama.

Ehime Prefecture is located in the northwest of shikoku. Ehime Prefecture has a plain in a northern part, and there is an ishizuchi mountain in a southern part. And there is about 200 island.

Climate is warm. Moreover, there are no big river and lake. Therefore, drinking water runs short. The Matsuyama city sometimes has cutbacks in water supply.

Major industries are the chemical industry, shipbuilding, paper, and a towel. Culture of a pearl and a yellowtail is prosperous in the uwa sea. Moreover, culture of a sea bream is No.1 of Japan. In cool inland, the vegetables of a plateau are grown.

In Ehime Prefecture, much histories and traditional culture exist. Especially Dogo Hot Spring with 3000 years of history is designated as the Japanese important cultural property.
