The prefectural capital is Fukuoka.

Fukuoka Prefecture is surrounded by the sea in three directions. And there are also a mountain, a river, and a plain. Fukuoka Prefecture is the area blessed with nature.

The climate of the Fukuoka prefecture has strong influence of the Sea of Japan side climate. And it is chilly and there are few daylight hours in winter. It to which the Fukuoka prefecture is located in the northeast in Kyushu is an important point of the traffic which connects Kyushu and Honshu. The Fukuoka city is the greatest city in Kyushu. The output of a young tree is the 1st in Japan. And a strawberry, wheat, and a chrysanthemum are the value of production of Japanese top class. Moreover, the quantity of production of a bamboo shoot is the 1st in Japan. The commercial center is Fukuoka. It is developed throughout Kyushu. The annual sales total of wholesale business is the 4th in Japan. It occupies 60.3% of whole Kyushu.
