Information on Fukushima Prefecture


The prefectural capital is Fukushima.

Fukushima Prefecture has a fukushima basin and an aizu basin. Fukushima Prefecture produces the agricultural products which employed the characteristic of the basin efficiently.
As for agricultural value of production, rice occupies 40 percent or more of the whole. Moreover, string beans, a cucumber, a tomato, a peach, a pear, an apple, etc. have many agricultural products of a quantity-of-production higher rank.

In Fukushima Prefecture, a forest occupies about 70 percent of the whole. And wood, a mushroom, wild grass, etc. are produced.
The sea in Fukushima Prefecture is blessed with the good fishery. And the fish and shellfishes exceeding 100 kinds are landed. Moreover, a kooriyama city is famous for culture of a carp. The shipment of a carp is the 1st in Japan.
