The prefectural capital is Kagoshima.

Kagoshima Prefecture is located in southern Nishi. Moreover, there is the 2643-km coastline. And there is an island of 605. The gross area of an island occupies 27% of Kagoshima Prefecture.

Kagoshima Prefecture has many volcanoes, such as a sakura island. Therefore, there are many hot springs. The number of the location of a hot spring is about 2,730. The number of the fountainhead of a hot spring and the number of bathrooms of a hot spring are the 2nd in Japan.

A hot spring, the yaku island of world heritage, a tanega island space center, and a kirishima mountain are popular as a tourist resort. Every year 28 million tourists visit them.
