Information on Okayama Prefecture


The prefectural capital is Okayama.

Okayama Prefecture is in contact with Hyogo Prefecture, Hiroshima Prefecture, Kagawa Prefecture, and Tottori Prefecture. Okayama Prefecture is divided into northern mountain land, a basin and the steep range of hills of the central part, and a southern plain. And there is about 90 island.

Okayama Prefecture is blessed with climate and geographical feature. It produces many fruits. The quantity of production of a white peach, mascat of Alexandria, and Pione is the 1st in Japan. In addition, much fruit is produced.

Coastal fishery for which the fishing used the shoal is performed. However, it is influence of urbanization and the fishery decreased in recent years.
Main industries are a textile industry, lime industry, and the lumber industry. And many famous companies exist.
The tourist resort in Okayama Prefecture is popular. Kurashiki, a plateau resort, a hot spring, and the Okayama kouraku garden are famous.
